Home cinema systems and their rise in popularity

In the not too distant past, watching a film was a proper social activity, with the only possible way of doing so being to actually go to the cinema. However with the introduction of technology that is constantly being developed, it seemed inevitable that this would not remain the same.

Firstly, there were VCRs, yes that’s right, though they are obsolete now there once was a time when these were the height of technology and allowed consumers to rent, buy or even record films and view them in the comfort of their own homes. Then followed DVD players – these gave us better quality and eliminated the hassle of rewinding and fast forwarding and it was good, but it seemed there were still factors missing if you were to truly replicate the -cinema experience’.

The huge screens provided at the cinema were undeniably an essential factor in the experience, and certainly the TVs available when VCRs were around would have paled in comparison. Not only did the TVs have smaller screens but the speakers were also of poor quality and issues with the screen sizes and aspect ratios also proved to be problematic.

Nevertheless, all of this outdated technology, though left behind, has proved to be an essential stepping-stone for what was to follow, the home cinema. Yes, it seems that now the technology is available, more and more people are opting for the home cinema experience, transforming their living rooms into movie theatres. Watching films at home does seem to have its advantages; for instance, it’s often quieter and more convenient than going to actual theatre. So, what do you need to set up your home cinema system?

1)Though it may seems obvious, a good starting point is a large television. When you see a film in a theatre the screen envelops your field of view, allowing you to become completely emerged in the film. A TV with a big screen will help to imitate this. 2)Having a high quality telly is also essential. At the cinema we are always presented with huge high definition images, the detail and clarity allows for a greater sense of realism. Also, if a large screen provides low quality images it will accentuate the poor quality of the picture. 3)Finally, we come to the sound side of the system. Although it may not seem like it is of great importance, in actual fact a good sound system can really help to bring a film to life. When watching a film at the cinema,, the sound propagates from numerous places. The music, sound effects and dialogue do not just come from the screen but completely surround you. Surround sound and surround panning can really put you -inside’ the movie by creating a 3 dimensional soundscape.

If you’re looking for a new TV to start your home cinema with, why not try looking online for Panasonic LCD TVs and Samsung LCD TVs?

Revisiting Juggernaut Horror Rap Album, Icps Riddlebox

Every genre has its marquee album. You know, the album that made a name for the genre and its performing artists. For horror rap, that album is arguably Riddlebox by ICP. No one will deny the fact that most horror rap heads (now known as Juggalos) were quite familiar with the genre and Insane Clown Posse before ICPs Riddlebox was released, but Riddlebox by ICP is important because its the album that introduced much of the wider world past Juggalos to horror rap.

As Violent J put it back then, Riddlebox was “all the records we had done rolled into one single effort.” That insightful quote says a lotperhaps ICPs Riddlebox was the record that broke them to an audience past Juggalos because they treated it as such going in. Remember, up until this point, horror rap had existed solely as an underground genre situated mostly in the Midwest. Once Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope started treating their horror rap art as a movement that could reach the entire nation, they started to take off.

Whats also interesting about ICPs Riddlebox is the fact that they managed to breakout of their geographical niche while retaining the respect of die hard Juggalos that had been there since the beginning. Often times, artists only blow up because they sell out. That is, they deliberately write songs that appeal to a larger number of people just for the monetary success it will bring them. Not the case with ICPs Riddlebox, and thats why Juggalos respect ICP to this day. Theyve never wavered from their horror rap roots.

ICPs Riddlebox stayed true to the Jokers Card legacy started in their earlier albums. The Jokers Card for Riddlebox by ICP is indeed a jack in the box that determines whether the dead will spend eternity in heaven or hell. Just like past Jokers Cards, this jack in the box aligns with horror rap themes of judgment and retribution. Additionally, as is protocol with all Jokers Cards, if the jack in the box deems youre fit for hell, how it sends you there is graphic to say the least. And Juggalos like imagery of gore.

However, thats not the most important thing that Juggalos like. The thing that unites Juggalos isnt always strictly horror rap, or the violent rhymes in their favorite artists verses. Instead, its a feeling of being misunderstood, just like ICP has been their entire career. I mention this because it came to a head with the release of ICPs Riddlebox.

When the labels showed little interest in promoting Riddlebox by ICP, what did ICP do? They promoted the album themselves independently in local record shops, selling plenty. This example of the band walking the walk transparently with their own album really helped Juggalos solidify their love for horror rap, and its creators.

The Rules Of Photography Knowing When To Break Them.

Creative photography is a mix of many ingredients; art and technology, skill and patience, cold mechanical knowhow and individual flair.

For a beginner learning the basics, it would be nice if there was a simple set of rules to follow to make the whole thing easier. Surely someone could just tell you what aperture to use in a given situation, or how to structure a composition to get the best results every time?

Photography is a lot like learning to drive. With a car, you need to know the road rules, and you need to know the basic skills of steering, accellerating and braking. These can be learned easily with a bit of practice. But even when you have mastered the essentials, you still need to get to know your car, because each car is a little different. Then you need experience with night driving, wet-weather driving, off-road driving…

What you must understand is that following the rules will only take you so far. In photography, you will find that rules help you in the beginning, and some rules will stay with you throughout your career. The trick is to understand when the rules don’t apply, or when you should choose to ignore them. This is the type of knowledge that can’t easily be taught. It comes with experience, and is what gives you indiduality as a photographer.

Below are just a few of the rules that, for an experienced photographer, are just made to be broken.

Photography Rule #1. Outdoor Photos Should Be Taken In The Early Morning Or Late Afternoon. This is one of the first principles of landscape photography, and can be applied to almost any outdoor photography. The softness and warm colour of the sunlight at these times adds beauty and character to almost any scene. It also creates much lower contrast, allowing you to avoid harsh shadows and over-exposure of the highlights in your photos.

When can you break this rule? I can think of two situations immediately.

Black and white photography is defined by contrast rather than by subtle colour, so you often want stronger shadows to create the best image. For this reason, black and white photos are often best taken closer to the middle of the day when the light is stronger.

Rainforest photography is also best in the middle of the day, but this time you don’t want bright sunlight; you want cloudy weather to create an nice even light throughout the forest. Otherwise the patches of light coming through the canopy will create ‘hot spots’ all over your image.

Photography Rule #2.The Rule Of Thirds. The rule of thirds is an excellent guide for a beginner learning about composition. In simple terms, it divides your photo into three parts, vertically and horizontally. The dividing lines are the best places to position long objects in a photo (like trees and horizon lines). The points where the lines intersect are the most effective places to position smaller objects for most impact.

Photos that are taken according to the Rule Of Thirds appear

Radio Media Tours

There are many ways to let people know about your product, event, or service. Many people think as far as PR and advertising but can’t visualize beyond this point. Placing a radio ad will gain you exposure, sure, but a radio media tour goes a long way to insure that the target demographic is actually listening to the message that you’re sharing. Many people simply tune out advertisements or change the station, but they do often listen to what the DJ’s have to say, especially with interviews or topics of interest.

So, what is a radio media tour? A radio media tour is usually booked and arranged for a company through a strategist or marketing company. A spokesperson- usually a third-party individual, then gives interviews with different radio outlets and personalities over a period of several hours. Each interview conducted will be between five and ten minutes. These interviews can be done live or they may be recorded for later use. The company will provide background material for each interviewer. In choosing radio outlets, it is obviously desirable to match their target demographic with your own. Size, region, and format are also a large part of the considerations that need to be taken into account. National networks, syndicated shows, statewide radio, regional and local radio stations might all be considered.

In doing a radio media tour to promote or increase exposure, having a spokesperson is key. While a spokesperson is very much a third party, they need to be someone with a reason to care about the product- somehow has a connection with the product that makes them care about it and desire to promote it. Obviously, this gets to be balanced out by being someone who can be informative and casual and not push or over-promote the product. Choosing the right spokesperson is perhaps the most important part of this process. The reason why many companies seek out talent to represent them is simply by nature of the celebrity status, a wider audience will be listening.

Securing the appropriate spokesperson is something best done with the help of a celebrity marketing agency who can not only make those calls for you, but who have the unique position in being experienced in matching up companies with talent. They can help you to find a spokesperson, put together background information, and book the radio media tour.

Make use of and to increase your visibility in the marketplace by using proper media placement, satellite media tours, and radio media tours.

How to become a better Actor Performer

When acting or performing on any level realize it is an art. You have to continue to practice your art consistently to stay on top your game. There are a few different ways to help you perfect your skills. There are: acting classes, books, video, online searches etc.

I am going to focus on two of what I feel are main ways to perfect your skills. First, you have to watch yourself. Many say to watch yourself in a mirror. This is good but you can not totally focus on what you are doing and saying if you are performing your monologue or script etc. Your mind will be going in a lot of different directions. I would recommend video taping yourself perform. This is just to help you; there is no need to go buy an expensive video camera. The one you may have will work fine whether new or old. Also, some digital camera’s come with a video mode that will work well. This way after you perform your piece, you can sit back, focus and view every detail of what you are doing over and over. This will make it easier to catch facial gestures or the way you pronounce certain words that you may want to change.

Second, I would suggest watching a lot of other great performers do what they do best, perform! If there is an actor, comedian, singer, dancer etc. that you enjoy watching perform. Whenever they perform, you just think they are great at what they do, watch them often. With You Tube and all these other video sharing sites you can watch all types of people who are good at what they do at no cost. This will help you perfect some things you do when you are performing. For example say you perform a piece and video tape it. You look at it when you’re done and you don’t like your facial expression on a certain part. Find a piece by your favorite performer doing a similar piece and find what you like and work it into your performance. Then video tape it again. You have to be confident in what you are doing to better connect with the audience and I feel these two strategies will help tremendously.

Commercial Photography And How It Works

If you’ve ever been interested in commercial photography and just what it entails, search no further. Simply explained, commercial photography normally refers to advertising, or photography that is taken with the specific reason for earning profits, versus simply being art. Typically the aspiration is to look for the suitable picture that hopefully will market a specific thing or system, including foundation products, beverages, food and even passenger cars and much more. With commercial photography, presently there are really no boundaries, and this is really a line of work that is certainly frequently evolving as well as growing.

With commercial photography, the entire idea isn’t merely to create a pretty picture. The objective of commercial photography goes beyond the whole picture, and looks within the buyers responses. Commercial photography seeks to seize the feeling of the target audience, to show true emotion and count on not only intellect. This type of advertising photography typically goes for an emotional response, and photographers who can grab this are rare-and priceless.

Shoppers in our world tend to be frequently hounded by pictures and movies clamoring for their attention. Whether it’s through the radio, TV or magazines, the responsibility of commercial photography is to instantaneously capture their focus with a picture and ideally turn their interest into revenue for the customer.

Commercial photographers continuously need to adapt to the changing marketing environment. Shoppers have learned to tune out many, if not most, advertisements, so commercial photographers must find new ways to get their meaning across to potential customers.

Commercial photography is the chance to have an image make someone want to buy a particular product, and in today’s market place, commercial photography is in a myriad of unconventional places. As an alternative to just in a magazine, advertising photography is observed on the walls of buildings, in Web pop-ups and brochures. Merchants of almost any size can usually benefit from commercial photography, and there’s no better time than now.

One kind of commercial photography which is becoming more popular is large format photography. Large format photography makes use of special gear which allows people to enlarge the image to just about any size. Generally, this type of marketing and advertising is used in retail windows and on the side of structures to catch interest from a distance.

A marketing strategy that numerous businesses use while using commercial photography is to catch bright and vibrant colors. Whether it’s the cheerfulness of the illustrations or photos or simply just the vibrant color that attracts attention, this tactic is normally fairly effective at getting products off the shelves.

If you are responsible for marketing for your company or you have an interest in becoming a photographer, commercial photography is incredibly valuable. Regardless of how much advertising shifts, commercial photography is able to keep up to date and provide you with amazing pictures which will sell your products. If you have an image that resonates with your customers, you could have instantly created a correlation which is difficult to crack.

Off-shore Instrument Technicians 4 Things You Should Know

Off-shore oil rigs are huge and as such need many people to keep things running efficiently. Among these, instrument technicians are some of the most in demand. Because the rig is in the middle of the sea, the salt in the water and air will damage the electrical, pneumatic and mechanical systems. This is where off-shore instrument technicians come in as without them oil rigs would not be able to function.

Job description

*As an instrument technician, you would have to install new machinery and equipment, maintain and monitor them and make sure they are in working order. For this, daily inspection has to be done to make sure there are no glitches.

Remuneration

*Off-shore jobs are very challenging and so remuneration is very good. Everyone on the rig – from the roustabouts to the technicians and supervisors – follows the same routine of 12-hour shifts, 7 to 14 days in a stretch and the same number of days off. On an average, instrument technicians get about $61,000 a year but this amount can differ from company to company. Job location and your experience level will also be factors.

Dangers

*While working on an off-shore oil rig, you will have to brave extreme weather and face the potential dangers of hurricanes and storms, and the fact that accidents, sometimes fatal ones, are more than a possibility. As an instrument technician, there is the added danger that you could get injured by the machinery or chemicals you have to handle.

Qualifications

*Instrument technicians must have a high school diploma and a degree in instrumentation or process technology, or an equivalent certificate/diploma from a recognized organization. If you don’t have the relevant qualifications, it would be a good idea to attend a two-year instrumentation technical course before applying. You will need to be a team player as most instrument technicians work in groups. You also must be able to troubleshoot and breakdown a problem logically so that you can solve it.

Though off-shore instrument technician jobs are in demand, they are difficult to get as they need a lot of technical skill and qualifications. At the end of the day, living on a rig can wear you down mentally and physically but if you feel you can handle the harsh environment, then go for it. But remember, that once you get the job, it doesn’t stop there: you have to keep learning, reading and updating yourself on new technologies.

The Influential Cultures of Humour

Throughout the world, humour has been presented through several forms. Various cultures have emphasized different aspects of humour and have made it their own. In this article, we will take a brief look at four different cultures and the main characteristics of their brand of humour and how they have sometimes influenced another cultures humour.

American humour: American stand-up comedians use a wide variety of comedic forms in their routines. Their humour can be categorized as more slapstick, improvisational, and oftentimes observational, especially due to the influx of Jewish comedians like Mel Brooks, Woody Allen, Lenny Bruce, and Jerry Seinfeld during the latter part of the 20th Century. African-American comedians also play a very big part in American humour and some of the countrys most-celebrated comedians like Richard Pryor, Bill Cosby, and Eddie Murphy hail from that community. Compared to British humour, American comedy tends to be more direct and less subtle. It can also be more risqu and profane than British humour with topics ranging from drug consumption to sex with lots of profanity in order to shock and offend the audience.

British humour: British comedians often use satire, irony, innuendo, and absurd elements to make their audiences laugh. There isnt any subject that is taboo to British humour, though comedians tend to be more subtle about controversial topics like sex than their American counterparts. They also make a lot of jokes about stereotypes of different cultures present in the United Kingdom. The television series Monty Python and Ali G are good examples of this. In fact, British television comedy shows have been so influential that a lot of them have been remade for American audiences, such as is the case for The Office, All in the Family, and Threes Company.

Jewish humour: Due to its vast influence on American comedy, Jewish humour plays a very large role in comedy on this side of the pond. As mentioned above, their humour is very much observational, anecdotal, and self-deprecating, with lots of references to Jewish culture, their religion, and even sometimes anti- Semitism. When Jews began to immigrate to the United States following World War II, they were having a hard time finding mainstream success, but they eventually came to acceptance with the emergence of American radio and television sitcoms. In the 1950s, Milton Berle, a Jewish comedian, became the first major television star during TVs golden age. Today, Jewish humour is still very much a part of North American comedy, thanks in part to the success of television sitcoms like Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Canadian humour: Partly because of its many regional cultural differences, Canadian humour is influenced by various themes and trends. English-speaking Canadians often make jokes at the expense of French-speaking Canadians, and vice versa. Newfie jokes are also very popular throughout Canada and have become part of Canadian culture. Canadian comedians also enjoy poking fun at the numerous differences between Americans and Canadians. One example of this is Rick Mercers comedy routines, Talking to Americans. Like British comedy, satire is one of the most
